Mountain bike sales leader in the high-end category. In the French market, the Lapierre brand is conquering the rest of the world.

60 years of innovation with our patented FPS and OST rear suspension systems, true technological advances in the world of MTB.

Reducing the weight of our bicycles continues to be the focus of our research, and our goal is to optimize each range. Although Lapierre bicycles are some of the lightest on the market, we refuse to take unhelpful risks that compromise the performance or reliability of our bicycles.

Learning from the professionals

The FDJ (Française Des Jeux) and Lapierre celebrate 17 years as collaborators, with the recent arrival of Groupama to this association. It brought success. In 2016, Arnaud Demare took the first French victory at Milan-San Remo in over 20 years, while the FDJ team took its first TT victory in a similar period with the new Aerostorm DRS. Such outstanding results only reinforce recent victories in the world's biggest races, including the Alpe d'Huez in the Tour de France, and the stages of the Vuelta a España and Giro d'Italia, to demonstrate his strength. There is also depth to that strength. The FDJ team has dominated the close-fought world of Cyclo Cross, winning the French Championship no less than eight times.

Team Groupama - FDJ is heavily involved in the development of all our carbon road bikes. Our engineers have regular test sessions, driving development with testers, technicians and riders. And with these riders, including Thibaut Pinot, one of the top five in the world, you can bet they're keeping our engineers busy.

Suspension

EI Shock auto is Lapierre's revolutionary electronic suspension. Thanks to sensors that measure and evaluate ground conditions and pedaling, your rear shock absorber is always in the correct position. This means that you only need to concentrate on driving the bike. Next to the power, a discreet interface has been placed and the battery in a compact version has been integrated into the downtube. Designed to simplify your trip.

Our OST+ suspension is based on virtual pivot point kinematics. How does it work? The rocking effect caused by pedaling is continually counteracted by the force applied by the chain. Its exceptional performance both downhill and with excellent comfort; and uphill with its incomparable efficiency, make it the new benchmark.

Material

The material used as a base for the frames affects the quality and performance. We work around the clock to perfect our specialized aluminum and carbon laminates.

Aluminum. Working with specialist aluminum suppliers, we have exclusive access to our high-end Supreme aluminum. It is 6.12% stronger and 1.5% lighter than the most popularly used 7005 aluminum. It has exceptional longevity and is available on select models.

Carbon fiber is both a science and an art, and the result is black magic. We built our first carbon frames in 2003, so over a decade of hard-earned expertise sets us apart. We still build them by hand. One piece may look like another, but carbon is incredibly adaptable. It can bend and absorb vibrations, be extremely rigid, or be anything in between. The nature of carbon is created in part by the layout (how the fibers are arranged) and by the fibers themselves. We use four types of fibers at Lapierre and know how to get the best out of each one. High-strength fiber is ideal for absorption and cushioning, something you may want in seatposts, seat stays or complete frames, while very high modulus carbon fiber is very stiff for pedaling efficiency. That "very high modulus" label is no joke, however. It is incredibly rigid. It's so stiff, in fact, that only Xelius road racers can use it. The Pulsium, Aircode and even the Aerostorm DRS ranges don't use anything beyond the already very stiff high modulus fiber, because rider fatigue is a higher priority for them. Elsewhere, the new Cross Carbon is created entirely from high-strength fibers, for maximum elasticity, traction and durability.

Road Technology and Design

Thanks to the new SAT (Shock Absorption Technology) technology, our resistance models are frames whose absorption of uneven terrain and rider protection are incomparable. The SAT (Shock Absorption Technology) elastomer ring absorbs flex between the seat tube and top tube.

Other innovations include the Power Box, which comprises the head tube, bottom bracket shell and rear triangle, making these operate as an ultra-efficient unit. Lateral stiffness is enviable, with little flex even under the hardest pedaling, for the fastest possible acceleration and sprint.

MTB technology

Mountain Bike standards are constantly changing and improving. We test each new standard to decide which one we think will add something extra to the driving experience.

29” tires are on our XC models. Best for rollover and momentum. 27.5” tires are found in most of our ranges. Best for acceleration and agility. With 27.5” and 29” tires now standard, the new emerging trend is plus tires. Our tests were conclusive. The 27.5” plus tires offer a completely new driving experience, with improved traction, braking performance and stability. Expert cyclists will be able to differentiate the great capacity and flexibility of these tires; while newbies will be able to get the ultimate in control, traction and, above all, the ability to gain confidence. The extra safety provided by the tires immediately helps to calm the most nervous cyclists. If you want to tame those pesky obstacles and smooth out a bumpy ride, look no further. You'll find them on our Edge+ and several Overvolt models.

The 27.5+ are in our new innovation. For maximum versatility, each Overvolt AM can be mounted with plus format wheels (2.7-3.0 tires) by simply changing the bike's rear hangers. These rear hangers as well as the 27.5”+ Lapierre e-bike wheels are available for sale.
