What is a road bike like and what is it for?

If you like cycling and you are interested in road bikes you arce in the right place. Especially if you have doubts about which bike you are most interested in.

AERO BICYCLES: characteristics

- Priority is speed: very reactive and aerodynamic

- Reduce frontal wind resistance as much as possible.

- Perfect for completely flat terrain, not very steep descents and short climbs.

- Aggressive bike design: they are not very comfortable. The cyclist's position tends to be very flat (handlebars lower than saddle).

- Wide profiles: reduce front air friction

- Side wind: greatly affects to wide profiles

- Aesthetically they are very striking

GRAN FONDO BICYCLES: characteristics

- Ideal for cycling

- To do long distance routes.

- Perfect for: climbing ports or slopes. For long and demanding routes 

- Use: perfect for routes with damage to the road. For example, stone walkways. Of course, they are equally suitable for asphalt.

- More relaxed bike design compared to the rest: shorter horizontal tube, higher direction pipe (favoring a straighter back).

- Slower than Aero Why? Frame design, cyclist position, wind resistance is greater ...

- Usually incorporate systems that dampen and reduce vibrations. 

- More comfortable: The back and neck suffer less (less forced posture)

- Stability: The distance between axes is larger. Thanks to this you can use tire wider tyre sizes.

TRIATHLON BICYCLES: characteristics

- Fast bicycles: aerodynamics to compete against the clock

- Bike design: more aggressive than any other road bike (slightly more advanced saddle position than the bottom bracket).

- More relaxed posture of the upper trunk: you will exercise more the quadriceps.

- Aerodynamics: to reduce wind resistance.

- Wheels: have more profile, optionally it can be lenticular (without spokes)

- Large gear: both chairing and sprockets.

- Generally large gear ratio: to reach high speeds on flat land more easily 

- Handlebar: elongated, reduced width and with two long couplings (or aerobars) that protrude

RACE BICYCLES: characteristics

- Use: road competition

- They are the most conventional and versatile

- Rigid, agile, light: thanks to its short stays. It will allow you to have faster reactions.

- Stretched and inclined position on the bike: steering pipe is shorter and horizontal tube longer than previous bikes.
